    This KnE Social Sciences collection has 31 peer-reviewed articles that focus on Governance and Poverty Alleviation, exploring the gaps in the local and national politics of Indonesia as a result of failing government programs and natural calamities, and how some digital products and apps can help mitigate those gaps. It also talks about building inclusive and harmonious communities through religious moderation, cultural adaptation in cases of cross-cultural marriages, and gender equality for women especially from indigenous communities with a prominent patriarchal culture. Additionally, some papers highlight the importance of building sustainability strategies to preserve local traditions and the food industry and investing in agriculture to achieve their sustainability goal of Zero Hunger.

  • 2nd International Conference on Gender, Culture and Society (2nd ICGCS)

    This collection contains selected articles from the 2nd International Conference on Gender, Culture and Society (ICGCS) 2023 held in Padang, on 25 October 2023. This event was hosted by the Pusat Studi Gender, Anak dan Keluarga (PPGAK), The Center of Gender, Children and Family Studies Universitas Andalas.

    The conference was held to facilitate discussions and share practical knowledge about gender issues in the development sector, addressing critical insights into gender dynamics and power imbalances.

    The KnE Social Sciences collection contains 31 peer-review articles that investigate women’s participation in and experience of different social, political, cultural, and economic realms. These investigations reveal the critical roles women play, from managing conflict to encouraging ecotourism, and the obstacles that hinder their engagement in diverse societal spheres. Scholars of this collection highlight topics such as domestic and sexual violence, spousal loss, and rights’ violations, in addition to women’s empowerment and women in politics. In doing so, they underscore the importance of access to legal aid and welfare protections in order to effectively promote gender parity and gender inclusivity in policy frameworks, and to eliminate gender gaps in various sectors.
